Dear Carolyn:

Bob Shepherd had the kindness to write to me and let me know that
you not only have Victor in the hospital but your mother also. I am
very sorry to hear it, and I hope that since Bob wrote things may have
imrpoved somewhat. At least, to judge from what he says, Victor may be
home again. But how difficult it is for you to have all this happening
at Once. I wish there were something I could do besides say ”Courage"

and assure you of my drayers.

I think often of you and Victor, and a certainly things are much
less happy here than they were when you could come over regularly.
We can certainly be grateful for having had such wonderful times over
the years, and I hope will do so again. In any case, perhaps when
my lawyer, John Slate, anxs comes down this summer, we might be able to
get over there. But I will of course eansult you first about it.

In a word, m do very much want to see you and Victor, if only
briefly. I hope he is able to do at least a few of the things he likes
to do, and that he is reasonably well. I am having a bout with food
allergies and the like, but nothing special. The back seems to be holding
uo all rightk and in a word I have nothing to complain of.

would it be more convenient for you if I sent requests for
books and things direct to someone at the library? I am most grateful for
the copy of the Ruthwell Cross article, and would like to follow that
up with a book that might be there. If you get a chance to dron me a
note about this, I will do what you suggest.

with all my best to you and Victor, and thanks to Bob
for his note,

alway s ,
