- Scope and Content
- The Iredell P. Davie notebook (dated 1863; 0.055 cubic feet; 1 folder) comprises one notebook that documents the notes, poems, and writings that Iredell Davie put into the journal while attending Centre College in Danville, Kentucky in 1863. Many of the writings are poems about love and loss, complimenting the beauty of a woman, and anger and sadness at the loss and death of her. He also writes notes about the readings and lessons he is required to do, stating what parts he liked of the lessons. In the back, Iredell includes a list of items he brought to Danville that year and then travel costs incurred in December.
- The Iredell P. Davie notebook collection is part of the Wade Hall Collection of American Letters, which includes correspondence and diaries from all over North America covering the time period of the Civil to Korean Wars. The materials were collected by Wade Hall and document everyday men and women.
