Biography / History
Charles Edward Pogue is an American screenwriter and playwright born on January 18, 1950 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Pogue grew up in Fort Thomas, Kentucky, graduating from Highlands High School in 1968. He earned a degree in theater arts from the University of Kentucky in 1972. Moving to Los Angeles, California, Pogue began writing plays and screenplays primarily in the fantasy, science fiction, horror, and thriller genres.
Some of Pogue's most well-known works are Psycho III (1986), The Fly (1986), D.O.A. (1988), Dragonheart (1996), and Kull the Conqueror (1997). Pogue wrote scripts for several adaptions of Sherlock Holmes, including both movies, such as The Hound of the Baskervilles (1983), and plays. Many of Pogue's projects have received praise and acclaim from critics.
Pogue has also worked as a stage actor, performing leading roles in a variety of plays, including Hay Fever and The Rainmaker. As a strong advocate for writers' creative rights, Pogue served on the Board of Directors of the Writers Guild of America. Some of his more recent works include Tartuffe (2007) and A Flea in Her Ear (2014). Pogue lives in Lexington, Kentucky with his wife, Julieanne. Both Pogue and his wife are active in theatre productions, and he often works with the Actors Guild of Lexington in Lexington, Kentucky.

Scope and Contents

The Manuscript and Related Materials series mainly contains script and screenplay drafts and notes for a variety of film and play projects on which Charles Edward Pogue worked. Other materials include correspondence, articles, promotional and production documents, and reviews. Some of the projects are The Hound of the Baskervilles (1983), Psycho III (1986), The Fly (1986), D.O.A. (1988), Dragonheart (1996), and Kull the Conqueror (1997).
