A letter was read from Shriners Hospital for Cripple Children
thanking the lodge for the spaghetti send them.

A letter was read from our Grand Secretary, A. E. Orton, stating
the Eyelaws committee from the Grand Lodge had approved the two
amendents to our Bylaws as approved by our lodge on June 5, 1961.

A request for a demit was presented from Chester J. Stevenson.

Master Stewart thanked all the officers for their help of the

Master Stewart announced we would have a called meeting on
September 5, 1961 for the funeral of Arnott S. Hendrick, as a
courtesy to a lodge in Texas.

Victor Howard reported that we have had some calls for a hospital
bed in the past and would like the craft to think and give some
study as to the lodge yurchasing a hospital bed complete and

a wheel chair. This was discussed by several of the members

as to the need and the trouble to keep up with. Master Stewart
appointed the following comittee to investigate the cost and

to report back to the lodge:

lodge for the help given them during their troubled hour.

A letter was read from Hazard Lodge Nb. 676, Hazard, Kentucky,
requesting that we inwestigate Willard Boston Johnson for
reinstatement, as a courtesy to then.

A letter was read from Philip Swigert Lodge No. 218, stating that
they had conferred the Fellow Craft Degree upon Claude M. Vaughan,
Jr. as a courtesy to our lodge.

A letter was read from Ben E. Dotson, requesting that we request
Thomas DeVenny Lodge Nb. 928, Freeburn, Ky.to give him the rest
of his work, as a courtesy to our lodge.

Secretary reported that we have a letter form our Grand Secretary,
A. E. Ortan, stating that the Grand Lodge of Georgia had
suspended William Tony Willis, a member of our lodge, for dealing
in alcoholic beverages, and said letter from Georgia was read

to the lodge. Their letter not only stated they had suspended
but they were expecting to expell him at their Grand Lodge meetinfi
in early October. Instructings were to consider him suspended

as of their date and wait for futher instructions from the Grand
Lodge of Georgia regarding his being expelled.

Secretary reported that we had redeemed two series I bonds this
week and thought we should invest some of our surplus money in
more bonds. A motion was made and seconded that we purchase
$5,000.00 Series E bonds, at a cost of $3,750.00, subject to
approval of the finance committee. Motion carried.

It was reported that our Grand Lodge meeting Was coming up and
according to Grand Lodge regulations we had to appoint an alternate
in case the "ester or the Wardens could not attend lodge. 5"
motion was made, duly seconded, that we nave W. T. Jordan an
alternate. Motion carried.

enJhyed an excellent dinner, served by our food committee, to
approximately one hundred members and visitors present by this
time.

7:05 P. M. Called from refreshment to labor on Master Masons
Degree.

After a brief at ease the lodge was called to order with cheater
R. Meyer in the East and proceeded to raise William Clelland
Cockrell, Jr. in full ceremonial, with the assistance of our degr
team.

They were then asked to approach the East, where their Tylers
Oath was given by Master Stewart, charge by Robert J. Turley,
and were presented their 1961 dues cards, by-laws, History
of Lexington Lodge No. 1 and their aprons by Master Stewart,
and were then seated in the North. They were asked if they
wished to make any statement to the lodge. One response by
Brother Alverson.

Several of the newly made brothers were asked to approach the
alter, where they were presented with a token or gift from a

brother or loved one.

Master Stewart had the food committee and the craft team stand
and be recognized and a round of applause was given them.

Hester Stewart thanked all the officers and Past Masters for
their help of the evening.

All visitors were asked to stand and entroduee themselves.

Louisville attending Grand Lodge and our Senior Warden,
Victor Howard, would be our acting Master.

opening on Entered Apprentice Degree. Opened in form on

iEntered.Apprentice Degree. Seven candidates were admitted and

examined on this degree by Jack Keeley. Those found

preparatory to Opening on Fellow Craft Degree. Opened in

form on Fellow Craft Degree. With Victor Howard in the East

the craft proceeded to confer the Fellow Craft Degree upon seven
candidates, previously qualified and found in waiting as
