Biography / History
Wendell Berry (b. 1934) is a Kentucky born writer, poet, essayist, and activist whose works focus on the theme of harmony with nature. Berry received both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree from the University of Kentucky and later taught creative writing at his alma mater (1964-1977; 1987-1992). His major works include Nathan Coulter: A Novel, Recollected Essays, 1965-1980, and The Broken Ground.

Scope and Content
The Wendell Berry papers consist of his correspondence and two poems. The correspondence contains two letters to Wendell Berry from the editors of a poetry magazine from the Catholic Worker Movement and two letters from Berry in return. The poems include "A thought of David Ignatow" and "We Who Prayed and Wept".
