Biography / History
James G. Dana (1785-1841) was a lawyer, reporter for the Kentucky Court of Appeals, and newspaper publisher in Frankfort and Louisville, Kentucky. From around 1826 until 1832, James G. Dana published the Frankfort Commentator with Albert G. Hodges. Dana stopped printing the Frankfort Commentator in 1832 shortly after Hodges sold Dana his stake in the paper. Dana also owned a printing office in Frankfort (ca. 1833-1840) and served as the reporter for the Kentucky Court of Appeals, printing and selling reporters to law firms, lawyers, and courts.
