- Scope and Content
- The World War II publications (dated 1942-1949, undated; 0.45 cubic feet; 1 box) comprise publications and papers created by the US military, government, and independent publishers that document the efforts of the United States and its citizens during World War II. The publications include information on the different campaigns conducted by the military in the European; Mediterranean, African and Middle East; and Pacific-Asian theatres – achievements by Allied forces and what life is like on deployment for soldiers. Additionally, there are publications on what citizens can do to support their soldiers overseas, general education on the war effort, and what to expect upon a soldier's return home. There are booklets informing soldiers about the camp they are arriving at, information on the Women's Army Corps, how to prevent Venereal Diseases and have healthy relationships, and pocket guidebooks to France and North Africa. There are also two editions of The Leatherneck, a Marine Corps magazine.
- The World War II publications collection is part of the Wade Hall Collection of American Letters, which includes correspondence and diaries from all over North America covering the time period of the Civil to Korean Wars. The materials were collected by Wade Hall and document everyday men and women.
