Biography / History
Jack D. Foster holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the Ohio State University. He served as Secretary of the Kentucky Education and Humanities Cabinet from 1988-1991 and as a member of the Task Force on Education Reform that drafted the progressive Kentucky Education Reform Act of 1990 (KERA). He has written several works in the field of edcuation, including If I Could Make a School (1991) and Redesigning Public Education: The Kentucky Experience (1999). After he left Kentucky State Government, he helped over 50 schools in Kentucky implement KERA.

Scope and Contents

The Audiovisual Series includes audio cassette tapes as well as video cassette tapes. The audio cassettes consist of an oral history interview with Jack D. Foster and audio from the 1990 Kentucky General Assembly session. The video cassette tapes consist of recordings of the 1990 Kentucky General Assembly sessions, interviewes with various Kentucky educators, excerpts from education reforem rallies, and Kentucky Education Television (KET) produced programs about Kentucky school systems.
