"In order to build collections systematically and with deliberation we
are trying to direct the existing staff into subject bibliography, and
to attract librarians with a greater depth of training in various
subject fields. We have, for the first time, set up a group of bib-
liographers to assist the faculty in the process of selection and
acquisition. Previously the library was to a large extent dependent
on blanket standing orders."
