- Pioneer. Samuel Shepard was a native of Weston, Massachusetts who arrived in Kentucky in 1787. He settled in Georgetown and married Frankey Barlow in 1792.

- This accession includes excerpts from a journal kept by Samuel Shepard on his journey down the Monongehela and Ohio Rivers in the 1780s. It offers details of several campaigns against the Indians.
