The Execttive Committee of the University of Kentucky met in relaar monthly session at the President's Office of the Uni- ve'rsity at 11 o'clock a. in., Wednesday, February 10, 1926. The follcwing members were present: Senator H. M. Froman and Super-. intendent McHenry Rhoads. Mr. Louis Hillenmeyer and Mr. E. B. Storm Sewer in Hollywood Addition across Experiment Sta- ticn Property. At the meeting of the Executive Committee on 7anuary 13 a communication was read from Mr. W. C. Wilson, Corn- missioner, Public Works of Lexington, requesting permission to put a storm sewer across University property in Hollywood addi- Tion (See page seven of the minutes for Wednesday, January 13). The matter was referred to Dean Thomas P. Cooper for recommenda- tion and Dean Cooper reported that an agreement had been reached and that a payment of $25 had been made for any damage to Uni- versity property. He presented a contract for approval giving permitsion for the installation of this sewer. On motion, duly Geconded, the contract was approved. 3. Lo.gislative Matters. President discussed with the Ex- ecutive Corarittee a number of bills now pending in the Legisla- ture affecting the University. He discussed particularly the Sales Tax measure and the Income Ta.x measure. These matters :erd presented merely for information of the Executive Committee. 4. Emrployment of Garbner and Electrician. President MoVey presented to the Executive Committee the matter of a gardeerw and an electrician stating that the University would, no doubt, bene- fit financially by a full time employment of such persons. After discussion the matter was referred to the President with power to act. 5.Fraternity House Plans. A plan presented by one of the fraternities for the erection of fraternity houses on University property was discussed at length and referred to a committee. con- sisting of lvMessrs. E. B. Webb end Louis Hillenmeyer. . Re-port on Progress of Repair of Old Chernistry Building. President MoVey reported on the progress of repair on the old Chemistry building and stated it was expected to be ready by the middle of the surmmer. He also indicated that the cost of the repair would not exceed $10,000; the amount allovied in the budget. 7, Resirsnations. The following resignations were presented and upon motion duly seconded, approved as presented. Resignation of Mr. Everett Matheny, student assistant in Physics. Resignation of Mr. R. E. Jangers, field agent in the Depart- ment of University Extension. Resignation of Mr. Thomlas Baird, assist'nt in Farm Manage- mont . B. Lenves of Absence. The following recommendations for leaves of Absence were made by President MoVey and. approved. 6. Leave of absence to Miss Jane J. Nichols, stsnographer in th3 President'o office, without pay on account of illness for an indefinite period. Leave of absen6e to Miss Virginia Singleton, clerk in De- -artment of Anirfal Husbandry, rithout ppy frome February 1, 1926 to May 1, 1926, on account of ill health. Sabbatical leav~e of absence was granted for the first semes- uer 1926-1927 on one-half pay to Mr. Allen Swisher, instructor in art, the granting of leave to be subject to approval of the dean of College of Arts and Sciences. 9. Arpointment s. The following appointments were recom- mended by Prcsident McVey and on motion, duly seconded, approved. Appointnent of Miss Laura Granducci, at a salary of $100 p3r nmonth to take the place of Miss Singleton. Apnointment of Mr. Vivian E. Fisher, instructor in Psychol- ory, for the second semester of 1925-1926 at a salary of $800 for the semester. C-.ntinuation of e-nploymnent of the following county agents and home demonstration agents at the Experiment Station-was ap- p:oroved. Continuation of employment of Miss Zilpha Foster, home demen- stration agent, McCracker. County at a salary of $166 2/3 from J?^ uary 1, 1926 to Decomber 31, 1926. Continuation of employment of H. P. Forkner, county agent of Eoone C.ounty, at a salary of $150 per month from January 1, 1G26 to Daoeyrber 31, 1926. Continuation of employment of Miss Ruth Robertson, home lomonstration agant for Galloway County, at a salary of $150 per ..onth frorm January 1, 1926 to December 31, 1926. Beavers, coumty agent, Christian County, at a salary of $25 per month from January 1, 1926 to February 28, 1926. 10. Increase in-Salarv. Increase in salary of Miss Doris Branarrfan, College of Education, to $100 per month beginning February 1, 1926. 11. Resolutions Regarding the Death of Mr. Herbert Graham. The following resolution was presented by Mr. Hillenmeyer, sec- onded and adopted; The Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of Kentuoky daeply regrets to learn of the t.ragic death of Mr. Herbert Graham, former alumni secre- tary of the University of Kentucky. Mr. Graha-m was employed by the University of' Kentucky in the capacity of fu.l1 time alunni secretary and did his work well. He made a splendid corityibution to the work of organization among the alumni of the institution and. helped tlo build up a finer spirit for the Univer- sity among his associates.
