Collection Overview

Biography / History
The 327th Field Artillery Regiment was part of the 84th Division (now 84th Training Command) of the United States Army during World War I. During World War I, enlisted persons from Illinois, Wisconsin, and Kentucky were formed into an infantry division at Camp Taylor, Kentucky in 1917. In October 1918, the division was deployed to France to act as a training formation for replacements who would be sent to the Western Front. Upon the ending of the war, the division was sent home without seeing any combat and inactivated in January 1919.
