Biography / History
Presbyterian minister. Harrison, a native of Virginia, moved to Kentucky with his parents in 1806. He attended Transylvania University. In 1824, cooperating with Reverend John Breckinridge, Harrison established the WESTERN LUMINARY, a religious publication, in Lexington, Ky. He also founded Presbyterian churches in Boone County, Kentucky.
Scope and Content
This reel of microfilm contains six sermons written by Joseph Cabell Harrison. In the sermons Harrison mentions Martin Luther, George Whitefield, John Wesley, George Washington, and many biblical figures. In some of the sermons Harrison followed his signature with "Boone, Kentucky."
