- Lawyer, politician, congressman. Albert Shelby Willis was born in Shelbyville, Kentucky. He graduated from the University of Louisville Law School in 1866 and served in the U.S. Congress from 1877-1887.
- Scope and Content
- This scrapbook contains newspaper articles concerning Jefferson County and national politics from 1866-1886, along with other documents dealing primarily with politics. Materials include newspaper articles dealing with such topics as post-civil war issues, President Grant's administration, the Chinese immigration problem, election results, Willis' activities in Congress, as well as Kentucky and Jefferson County politics. Also included are printed speeches of Willis' letters, political pamphlets, posters, broadsides, and programs of concerts and plays.
