Biography / History
Parks in Lexington were first under the direction of the Lexington Civic League. In 1944, the Board of Park Commissioners was established to oversee parks and playgrounds in the city.
Scope and Content
These are the microfilmed minutes of the Lexington Civic League and the Lexington Board of Park Commissioners, two organizations that were concerned with parks in the city. There are also copies of a few letters sent to each organization. The Civic League's minutes were kept by their secretary, Mrs. Margaret Preston Johnston.
