It seems to me to be very clear that the duty of this Kentucky
Division is to adopt a resolution endorsing the Democratic national
platform with its declaration for outright repeal and modification of
the Volstead Act, and those Congressional candidates, including the
\ candidate for the Senate, who have pledged themselves to support
I A that platform. Clearly the Democratic declaration is wholely in accord”
V3 with the position of our Association. While the Republican declaration -
E is only partly in accord with that position.
g I,therefore, submit for your consideration the following resolution,'

I”! . which, after discussion and full consideration, I trust will be adopted;

Ignrsubstancc: Resolved, that the Directors of the Kentucky Division of g V
The Association Against The Prohibition Amendment urge every member of ,

, ~this Association in Kentucky and all voters in Kentucky in sympathy with l
the aims of this Association to vote for the Democratic candidates for
Congress and the Democratic candidate for the United States Senate. Each
of these candidates has pledged himself to support the Democratic plat-
form calling for outright repeal of ihe 18th Amendment and for immediate

. mpdification of the Volstead Act.({6; the Other hand the Republican -
candidates are divided in their attitude toward prohibition. While I
supperting the equivfihal Republican National platform declaration on
~prohibition some of these candidates openly favor retention of the l , 1

.. 18th Amendment; the recent Republican convention in this state nominated '
as a candidate for the Senate Mr. Thatcher, well known to favor prohibitidn.
' The keynote speech at this convention delivered by ex-éovernor Sampson
was dry. _j?
