58331011-
' Earning power has been enhanced by the rise in the price of silver,
but the mediate course of quotations is unpredictable. There are
- loopholes in the legislation affecting silver that night mtorially
change the outlook. Earnings for the months of Jamery and February,
. b. 1935, were at the rate of $2 per common more per anmm and maintenance
of this rate is highly likely over the balance of the year, although
no marked betterment in base metal prices is expected over the early
future.
The financial position is strong. The recently declared dividend of
$4.50 per share on the $8 second’pref‘errod reduces arrears to $10.50
per share. The present rate of earnings emu permit elimination of
those arrears this year, paving the way for dividend resumption on
the common in 1936. Approximate eat-dividend dates on the first pro-
ferrod are February 9 and quarterly.
' - CW: The emphatic response of the price of the common to the
' higher quotations for silver has carried the stock into a range that
‘ largely discounts the prospective earnings betterment. Modest oomit-
‘ ' . ' monks may be held for the pull, but as trading profits accrue or ex-

' pend, consideration may be given the acceptance thereof. The 3? pre-
ferred yields tall from a secure dividend and is not lubject to re-
demption. Hence, retention is indicated. The probability of further

, payments against the arrears on the $6 preferred has not been fully
discounted by the rise in price.

he were unable to work out a deal with Mr. Earlene on
toe Domino property; however, we have about concluded ar-
rangements with Hr. Joe Johnson and W111 Davis to turn the
Iroperty over to them. They have agreed to take our leese
and relieve us from all responsibility thereon, and pay us
a substantial sum at so much per ton.
while the papers have not been signed, they have been
drawn up, and all parties have verbally agreed thereto. I
feel quite sure that all signatures will be obtained Mon-
day, and the property transferred Hey let.
I am writing you this letter so that if you are interested
in taking the matter up with Messrs. JOhnson and Davis relative

FISHER BUILDING
DETROIT.MICH.
Oct. 29, 1934.
Mr. Russell des Cognets,
Louis des Cognets & Co.,
Lexington, Kentucky.
Dear Sir:

Replying to your letter of Oct.
11 regarding the painting of Domino which
you would like to sell; I would not be in-
terested in buying this as I already have
a good painting of Domino.

However, if you will let me know
the price I will keep this in mind should
I happen to run across anybody who might
be interested in this painting.

Yours very truly,
CTF/F %

‘ A.EDWARD MAC DOUG-ALL
THE QUEENSBORO CORPORATION BUILDING
25TH STREET AND POLK AVENUE
JACKSON HEIGHTS,NEW YORK
November 23rd, 1934.
Dear Des Gognets:
”Steve" Galatti has asked me, as a New York City
resident, to write to members of SSU 30.
The tentative plan is to have a reunion in the
summer of 1935 in or near New York City. This idea has
met with a hearty reception and the reunion will be success-
ful and interesting if well attended. My suggestion is
that we attempt to line up the entire section 30 under the
leadership of our original chef, Ralph Richmond.
For an iss18 of the Field Service Bulletin, "Steve“
Galatti wants to get conplete names and addresses and some
personal notes on each man. I enclose a list of the BSU 30
membership and would ask you to send us the addresses of any
men you know whose addresses are not indicated on the list,
or to correct addresses where not correctly shown. Also
please send personal items that can be forwarded to Mr.
Galatti; give the number of your wives (if any), and children,
whether you have been back to France, your business or
political accomplishments, or any other items of interest.
tsteve" also asks for the donation of War trophies of general
interest as it seems a delegation is to go to France and
locate a permanent place fer Field Service trophies.
Kindest regards, and please reply promptly.
Sincerely yours,
AEMD I . ? 4m _-.

Dezr Russell:
Please accept my thanks for your letter of Dec.
Slst conveying best Wishes for the New Year.
It is really a matter of considerable regret
to me that I have been unable to get to your city recently,
but I have been so covered up with work, that I just simply
could not get away. Moreover, from present indications, it
will be impossible for me to come to Lexington before the
week of Jan. 27th, at which time I most certainly hope to
have the pleasure of spending a day or two with you. This
should give us an opportunity to discuss matters of mutual
interest, and I trust that I may have the pleasure of find-
ing you in town at that time.
Lith my kindest regards to bet} Emma and yourself,
and trusting that your entire family are all in flood health,
I remain,
Sincerely yours,
