Dear Si r:—
We have the pleasure to acknowledge the receipt of your

letterof August 1 enclosing draft £8.0.0 which we have duly placed
to the credit of your account with best thanks.

We exceedingly regret that the set of Gilfillan’s Poets
proved so unsatisfactory and almost wi sh you had returned them to..-
us for disposal on this side. Sets are very seldom meet with in
bound form and the original Clutth in which sets are usually found;
is almost necessarily faded after so many years.

Trusting that any further orders entrusted to us may be
executed to your satisfawt ion and lilW'dé/I‘ at your service,

We remain,

Yours faithfully,

Dear Sir:

Your favor of the 26th has been received. Yes, we intend to print
the edition on the 4th of April. We cannot wait any longer. If you
can get us your article by the let or 2nd, it will be in plenty of time.

As to the photographs, I suppose that some photographer in your
town has negatives of the buildings. If he has not, would suggest that
you instruct them to have a couple of photographs taken and send them to
us at once. We will bear the expense of the negatives. Try and get
them taken as cheap as you can. We hope the photographer has them on
hand. Let us have your matter and photographSat the earliest possible
moment. This is an edition that will no doubt do you a great deal of

good.

Trusting to hear from you favorably by return mail, we are,

Dear Sir:

Your favor of Apr. 9th has been received. I am very sorry that you
are disappointed in regard to the article in the paper. We do not like

the tone of your letter, and think that you treat us with great injus—

tice. You delayed sending this article so long and put so much in the

write up that we did the best we could for you. we think that your
write up had a Splendid showing. In fact, you had more for your money
than anybody else in the paper, and we think that you ought to be in a
measure satisfied. We of course regret that you should have been dis—
appointed. As we stated before, we gave you more than we did anybody;
else for their money. It may be that our solicitor promised you too
much, and more than he was able to comply with. We do not think that
you should force us to allow you anything for the photographs furnished.

No one else did.
