Professor of History and Economics.
Vanderbilt University.

Nashville, Tenn., April 10, 1905.

This is to certify that Mr. D.W.Luten was a student in Vanderbilt Un—
Iversity during the year 1903—4. He received his B.A. From Kentucky
State College before coming here, and during his stay at Vanderbilt he
carried on two classes in English, one in Economics, two in History, one
in German, and one in Geology. In all these subjects Mr. Luten made a
high grade, his average being above 90. It was a cause of regret to

his teachers here that he was not able to return to the University in 1904
and carry on his studies toward a higher degree. I take pleasure in
commending him to any one in need of his services.
