- The Campbell County Equal Rights Association was founded in 1881 to advocate for women's suffrage. The group had ten members and officers include: Sarah M. Siewers M.D. (President), Alice L. Neleans (Recording Secretary), and Mary A. Smith (Treasurer).
- Scope and Content
- The Guide to the Campbell County Equal Rights Association entertainment program (dated 1894 October; 0.05 cubic feet; 1 item) consists of a program for an evening hosted by the Campbell County Equal Rights Association in Newport, Kentucky. The entertainment provided by Miss Ida Roff at Odd Fellows' Hall, Newport, Kentucky. The program includes advertisements for different stores and candidates for local elections. Includes an update from the Association on the back page as well as a notice that "the women of Newport, Covington, and Lexington are now entitled to vote for School Trustees and are elible to the office themselves, by the provision of the new charter cities of the second class." Additionally the program includes record of the appointments of women to a special committee to advocate the legislature raise the age of protection for girls to 18 vs. 12; an advertisement for the Kentucky Equal Rights Association convention to be held in Lexington - speakers to include Laura Clay, Eugenia B. Farmer, and Josephine K. Henry; and then a summary of what the State Legislative Committee has accomplished for women's rights.
