Scope and Content
These are microfilmed copies of a variety of materials gathered by Walter Rankins in his capacities as a writer, editor and college professor. The papers include: muster rolls and supply lists for the 18th Kentucky Volunteers, United States Army (1861-1865); scrapbooks of musical programs in Cincinnati and Lexington (1889-1906) compiled by Alberta Rankins, a piano teacher; a typescript of a work Rankin edited, THE DIARY OF A UNION SOLDIER, by John Weimer, a member of the U.S. Navy (1864-1866); the minutes of the Jefferson Literary Society (1828-1849); and the minutes of the Union Literary Society of Augusta College, Augusta, Ky. (1846-1849).
