 preface.

Time @uspcl iithu~that is the title that has been chosen and
is indeed appropriate for this collection of songs. Nearly every song in
this book is an echo from the Book of Books. ~

These are days of many excellent song books, and yet no apology
is made for the publication of such an unique collection of songs as is

offered in Time (finspcl fichu.
A definite plan has been followed in compiling this book.

There is an unusually large amount of New Songs written expressly
for this book and published here for the first time. These songs, which
number over one hundred, represent the result of a most critical test.
The test to which Gospel music is submitted day after day in such wOrk
as we undertake, reveals beyond a doubt its merits or demerits. The
music as well as the words have been carefully selected and it is be-
lieved will appeal to Pastors, Superintendents of Sunday Schools, Evan-
gelists and the public in general.

Intermingled with these new songs you will find a generous selec-
tion of the best and most Popular Songs of to—day, songs which have
stirred the hearts of millions of people.

Special care has been taken in selecting the choicest of the 01d
Hymns and songs and you will here find a large number of these old
familiar hymns that have always been dear to the Church, songs that will
never die. No song-book would be complete without them.

This is not a book for the audience alone, it is a book for the Choir.
No other book on the market to—day has such a generous supply of selec-
tions for the choir and songs appropriate for Quartets, Male Voices,
Duets and Solos.

”(the QKUSIJEI Eta!) has been edited and compiled in View to
meet the demands of all Departments of Church Work. It will be wel-
comed in the Evangelistic field and will prove a winner.

Particular attention is directed to the number of distinguished hymn-
writers, whOSe compositions go to make up this book.

In introducing these sweet songs of salvation to the lovers of good
religious music I consider it both a privilege to myself and a favor to the
public.

an]: ®U$pcl it!!!) is sent forth in the name of the Master
and it is my earnest prayer that it may carry the Gospel message to
humanity, that it may bring cheer to saddened hearts, added joy to the
joyous and that it may be used to sing many precious souls into God’s
Kingdom.

In Christian Service, Yours for Victory,
