Dr. Hall was the author of books, monographs, articles, plays, and reviews relating to Kentucky, Alabama, and Southern history and literature. Scope and Content
The Ina B. Keckley letters (dated 1918-1919, undated; 0.05 cubic feet; 2 folders) comprise letters sent to Ina from soldiers serving overseas in France during World War I. The majority of the letters come from Earle Morris, a soldier with the 159th Infantry. The letters describe his memories of visiting her family's farm, questions on how her family's goods are doing in competitions and the state fair, updates on his health and when he's in the hospital, the congeniality of the French people, and his sadness at rarely hearing from her. Other letters from soldiers discuss the trip to France, the weather, and how they would like to return home soon.
The Ina B. Keckley letters are part of the Wade Hall Collection of American letters, which includes correspondence and diaries from all over North America covering the time period of the Civil to Korean Wars. The materials were collected by Wade Hall and document everyday men and women.
