Increase Profits by Keeping Down Cost of Production
I By C. U. JETT
I Getting profits front farming; Illély be likened to getting `
eider from the old eitler press. The harder the press is screwed
down the more eider is stpieexed out, In farniing the more the
I cost of production is serewed down the more profits eoine from
the farm business. Managxenient is the lever whieh serews down
‘ the eost of produetion and brings the profits from the farm busi-
ness.
SELLING PRICE MINUS COST OF PRODUCTION EQUALS
PROFITS.
Probts are inereased by either raising the selling price or
lowering the cost of produetion. The individual farmer has a
limited ehauee of inereasing profits by raising the selling priee
of his products.
The best chance for z`ncrmsz'ng pm/its is by l0u·cr1`ng thc
c0st 0f protluefion. This is largely u·z`llz-in the. control of the
farmer.
HOW TO KEEP DOWN THE COST OF PRODUCTION.
The eost of production is lowered by eutting down the eost
0f man labor, horse labor and all the faetors whieh enter into
the cost of produetion.
Man labor costs may be lowered by employing a diversity
of enterprises so that labor may be distributed thruout the year,
