- Biography / History
- Mary Webb G. Robb was born on January 25, 1872, in Montegomery County, Kentucky. She was the organizer and president for two years of the State Garden Club of Kentucky, and was admitted as a lifetime member of the National Council of State Garden Clubs, Inc. In 1935, the accredited flower show judge attended both the national flower show in Holland and the Chelsea Show in England, which are represented in this collection. Robb moved from Nicholasville, Kentucky to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where she became a member of the Ft. Lauderdale Garden Club, for which she gave lectures. Mary Webb G. Robb died May 26, 1942.
- Scope and Content
- The Mary Webb G. Robb lantern slides (dated circa 1935-1942; .67 cubic feet; 125 items) consist of an extensive group of lantern slides taken by Mary Webb G. Robb of Jessamine County, Kentucky. Robb used these for the lectures titled, "Old Homes and Gardens of Kentucky" and "Famous Homes and Gardens of Europe." Included are indeces to the slides and a small amount of manuscript material. The slides from the lecture on famous gardens and home of Europe picture many English homes and gardens belonging to affluent people such as Lord Snaithling (items 47-51) and Madam Mary de Navarro (items 32 and 33). There are many representing the Chelsea Show, a flower show (items 35-38), as well as Hidcor Manor (items 41-45). The slides from the lecture on old homes and gardens of Kentucky show colonial-period homes and antebellum architecture, including the Whitley House--Kentucky's first brick home (item 1)--and the Old Stone Courthouse in Greensburg (item). There are also some gardens pictures, such as the Brown Pusey Garden (item 19). There is also a large group of 64 unidentified slides that show gardens, buildings, and people. The manuscript material includes checks, newspaper clippings, and a memorial record.

The "Old Homes and Gardens of Kentucky" lecture series comprises of 26 lantern slides that picture many colonial period homes and antebellum architecture from Kentucky, as well as the gardens. These slides are part of a lecture given my Mary Webb G. Robb titled "Old Homes and Gardens of Kentucky". There is an index to the slides that describes the subjects of the photographs. Notable items include The Whitley House, Kentucky's first brick house (item 1), and the Old Stone Meeting House in Clark County (item 7).

Scope and Contents
The "Famous Homes and Gardens of Europe" lecture series features 36 lantern slides showing the famous homes and gardens of Europe. The slides are part of a lecture titled "Famous Homes and Gardens of Europe." There are many slides from the Chelsea Show (items 35-38), and Hidcor Manor (items 41-45) as well as Lord Snaithling's gardens (items 47-51) are well represented. There is an index to the slides that details the subjects of the photographs, which were taken during her trip to Europe.
