ACTS STAFF MEETING
The ACTS Executive Committee would like to invite the Library's
Classified Staff to its first meeting to be held April 25, 1990
at 9:30 a.m. and at 2:00 p.m. in the Peal Gallery. The speakers
will be Suzanne Leibee and Ann Fister from the Human Resource
Department, and the subject will be an overview of all of HRD's
training workshops offered. The same program will be presented
at the next Faculty Meeting on April 26, 1990.

1 ADVANCED ONLINE SEARCHING COURSE
The College of Library and Information Science is offering an
advanced online searching course this summer for the first time.
The course is LIS690, Special Topics in Library and Information
Science: Advanced Online Searching and is scheduled for June 7-
August 2, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. It will consist of advanced
study of the structure and effective searching of major online
databases in (1) Humanities and Social Sciences; (2) Life and
, Health Sciences; and (3) Physical Sciences and Engineering. The
pre—requisite is that students must have taken either LIS630,
Computer-Based Reference Services, or have some online searching
experience. There is a limited number of spaces available, so
contact the CLIS as soon as possible if you are interested.
( KENTUCKY SOLINET USERS GROUP I
The Kentucky Solinet Users Group is having its spring meeting at
western Kentucky University, in Bowling Green, Friday, June
1,1990. The meeting will take place in the Downing University
Center from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Program participants from UK
include Gail Kennedy, Miko Pattie, and John Bryant. In addition
to reports, topics to be discussed are ILL, Group Access for KLN,
Personnel Recruitment for Tech. Services, and Library School
