Collection Overview

Scope and Content
The spelling of Lawrence Raidkins' name varies.
The original documents have been deacidified and encapsulated and moved to the manuscript preserved document section.
The collection consists of land warrants issued by the state of Virginia for land in Kentucky (1773-1800) and a survey administered and signed by Daniel Boone (1788). Recipients of the treasury warrants for land include those with surnames of Anderson, Bullock, Calloway, Helm, Henderson, Johnson or Johnston, Kinkead, Lee, Logan, Marshall, Owsley, Preston, Slaughter, Talbot, Trimble and others totaling approximately 270.
A land grant (accession 59W3) issued to James Garrard (Harrodsburg, Ky.), February 26, 1780 is present as well as a treasury warrant and survey (52W37) for Lawrence Raidkins, July 15, 1788 and December 22, 1781. Most of the documents are original, although a few typescripts are present as well.
