The Garden Club of Lexington met for their
annual all day session on Friday, January 16th,
1931, at eleven o'clock, at the Lafayette Hotel,
with 39 members present.

The President, Mrs. F. 0. Young, presided,
and the minutes of the last meeting and the last
board meeting were read and approved.

The treasurer reported a balance of $197.50.
The auditor reported that the books of the organi-
zation are correct.

Mrs. Hillenmeyer stated that she had no reporu
from the Contributers' Fund, but read a letter of
appreciation of our latest contribution.

Mrs. Young stated that she had gotten in
touch with several of the chairmen of committees
of the Garden Pilgrimage in Virginia, advising and
offering all possible assistance in case our Gar-
den Club decides to have a Pilgrimage for Kentucky.
She then read an incomplete list of interesting
places that might be included in such a tour and
emphasized the suggestion that we do not bind our-
selves to finance any one project with any funds
that may accrue.

Invitation to meet with the Kentucky Nursery—
men's Association was graciously issued by Mrs. Wal-
ter Hillenmeyer on Monday and Tuesday,February 2nd
and 3rd, at 1:00 P. M. Lectures on Perennialsernd
on Pools and Rock Gardens.

Mrs. Young stated that preparations werecnm~
pleted for Mrs. Karl Miner's lecture at the Memor—
ial building of the University of Kentucky; guest
tickets to be 50¢.

In regard to Mr.Purdie's lecture on the morn-
ing of March 20th, Mrs. Young stated that it seemed
probable but not definite that we can get him.

A tentative program for the year 1931 was
read and adopted.

Mrs. Clark then read the constitution and
.by—laws as revised, which will be voted on at the
next meeting.

Mrs. Garrick, as chairman of the Ways and
Means Committee reported on the findings in regard
to the proposed trip to Charleston. The railroads
offer a rate of $31.98 between the dates of March
lflth and April 4th. Mrs. Clark stated that bus
fare would be $20.00 plus eXpenses on the road,
making the actual cost about the same.

Miss Hathaway reported for the Arboretum at
the University of Kentucky, stating that there was
a balance on hand of $189.00 and much work to be
done. She eSpecially asked the Garden Club to
contribute to its usefulness by frequent visits
and reports on blooming dates, etc.

After a pleasant interlude for lunch the
meeting proceeded. Mrs. Healey showed her scrap
book and told of the pleasure it had been to her
to keep a record of the Club's activities.

Six members of the Garden Club signified a
wish to take the trip to Charleston, and Mrs.
Clark was instructed to ascertain as much as pos-
sible what enthusiasm can be worked up outside the
Garden Club for such a trip. It was moved that
the plan be taken under consideration and report
to the February meeting any possible patrons.

Mrs. Young asked for the pleasure of the
meeting in regard to undertaking a Garden Pilgrim—
age in Kentucky. There was much discussion in re-
gard to both feasibility and purpose. Finally Mrs.
Healey made the following motion: "That we under-
take this pilgrimage without stating for what pur-
pose the funds are to be used, the purpose to be
decided at the February meeting." The motion car-
ried, after being seconded by Mrs. Norton Sharpe.

Miss Mary Robinson moved that a question—
aire should be sent to every member of the club
in regard to their willingness to work for such a
project, purpose and general feasibility.

Motion carried.

The meeting then adjourned on motion.

Respectfully Submitted,

Q/MM ’5. Jim“ Sec'y.
