WISCONSIN STEEL COMPANY HINE
Dear S1r:-
We are returning to you herewith two (2) Wisconsin Steel
Company Inc. maps of Mine #1 C-Seam development.
We have indicated on Mr. Rose's map, in lead pencil, the
portion mined between October lst, 1935 and September 30th, 193%
inclusive, which produced 721,525 net tons.
AREAS MINED BETWEEN OCTOBER IST, 1935 AND
SEPTEMBER 30TH, 1937
SECTION AREA EAST OF AREA BETTEEN SPLIT "A"
_ NO. _ SPLIT "A" _ AND SPLIT "B"
7 12.92 acres None
8 5.21 acres None
- 9 13.82 acres 1.03 acres
10 None 15.61 acres
11 21.60 acres 7.23 acres
TOTAL 53.55 acres 23.87 acres
AREAS REMAINING UNNINED AS OF SEPTEMBER
30TH, 193@
SECTION AREA EAST OF AREA BETWEEN SPLIT "A"
NO. SPLIT "A" AND SPLIT "B"
7 11.2 acres None
8 3.3 acres None
9 50.5 acres 310.0 acres
10 None 91.4 acres
11 20.3 acres 151.5 acres
TOTAL 85.3 acres 552.9 acres
We have assumed the area east of Split "A" to be a 5'O"
seam and the area between Split “A“ and Spllt "B" to be a 3'6”
seam. Therefore we arrive at the following:

Mr. L. B. Robertson February 18th, 1937
ACRE FEET IN AREA MINED
Area mined east
of Split “A”. 53.55 acree x 5' = 268.8 acre feet
Area mined between
Split "A“ & Split "B". 23.87 acres x 3.5' = 83.5 acre feet
TOTAL ............. 352.3 acre feet
A Coal mined (Oct. 1, 1935 to Sept. 30, 1937) 721,525 net tone
Weight of coal mined 721525 x 2000 , A
per cubic met. eee.; x 43550 ’ 95·8*' P"` °“b1° *`°°‘°·
ACRE FEET IN AREA UNMINED
Area unmined east
of Split "A" 85.3 acree x 5' = 425 acre feet
` Area unmined between
Split "A” & Split "B" 552.9 acres x 3.5' = 1932 acre feet
TOTAL ..... ........ 2357 acre feet
To determine the tonnage of unmlned coal ne have assumed
the weight per cubic foot ae above calculated (93.8#) and estimate
E§§1.£.%%%gQ.£.2§;§ = 4,8QQ,OOQ tgng remaining unmined.
Youre truly,
Chief Engineer

 Mr. C. F. Biggert Feb. 19, 1937
President
Deer Mr. Biggert:
We are enclosing herewith for your information ond filo our
. yearly estimates as of Jun. 1, 1937, showing total coal areqs and tonnoges _
of the Bonham property. We are also enclosing e copy of our "C” seem devol-
opment map of No. l Mine, scale 400 ft. to the 1n¤h, on which we have indi-
cated the low coal line and also the fault line together with the acreage,
coal heights end tonneges shown on this map with reference to the some
ioformetion which is shown on the four Sheets covering the estimates.
Sheet No. l covers statement of coal areas and tonnage; as cnl~
culetod from ‘his may for both "B" and "C" seams and Lewis White lense.
Sheet Ko. B shows the Vigi and the low coal tonnares in the "C"
’ seam of No. l Kino and No. 2 Eine and also the "B" seam tonnage in Yo. l
Mime. It also shove the amount of tonne e that has been wined from these
p different areas and the amount of tonnage left to be mined, however the
amount of tonnage left to be mined, which is indicated ou this sheet
under "Totel "C" Seem" us 10,311,157 tone, includes the barrier pillars
left within these areas.
The third sheet, entitled "Statement of Coal Tonnage Remaining
"C" Seam, No. Nine, Jon. l, l957," is divided into the remaining amount
of coel, berrier pillars and nvailablbe. By available is mecnt that this
amount of coal ie available in the immediate future within the next year
or two. As development progresses from year to year more barrier pillars
ere available for minivg, thus increasing the amount 0* available tonnage
from year to year.
le are also including Sheet No. 4 showing a statement of the total
coal areas and tonnnges which were originally calculated by Fr. E. *. d'Invillier
from outcrop information und also prospect opening date. This sheet has been
added for the purpose of comparison and also includes the Looney seam on No. 2
Mine aide and the high splint seem on tho No. l Mine side.
Our calculations of high and low coal tonnages hove varied from
year to year as development into the No. l Mine property has advanced.
About two years ago o second jack rock parting was discovered on the Mein
Butt Entries of No. l Mine et the face of the workings, which divided the
then top bench of the "C" seam into two seams of coal, making three seems
of coal altogether in the "C" seam vein. The same condition was also dis-
covered on the North Main Butts about e year ago, at which time we did
considerable prospecting on Clover Lick Creek in order to properly identifv
as nearly as possible these coal measures on the outcroppinge of Clover

 Mr, C. F. Bigpart Feb. 19, 1937, Pays 2
Lick Crank with the sums coal measures inside the mins at the extremities of
the workings advancing toward Clover Lick Creek. At this time it was defi-
nitely determined to the Satisfaction of all concsrnad that sufficient and
definite correlation was made between the findings at the cutcrnpuings and
the findingn inside the mine. A second jack rock parting, which entered
as a wedge into the top bench of the "C" scam at the location of the extremi-
ties cf the main entries at that time, separated the top bench into two
seams of coal, leaving approximately 9" on the bottom and 27" on the tcp.
Development was continued on these entries until jmck rock parting bvtuzcm
these two coal measures became GO" thick, at which point development work was
st0¤ped,auG a decision was made that it would not he profitable to mine this
seam cf ccal any fnrthpr toward Clover Lick Creek.
Up to the present Lime of development this parting has been found
in five different general locations in development work, and we have indi-
cated it on the map by calling it tQe "fnult lime". Further development in
the "C" seam will determine its location more accurately. From all inf0r—
maticn available at present the lccafian 0f tkis fault line has been fixed
xith all possible accuracy and tha territory batwwen tiia fault line and
the cutcrop on Clover Lick Crank has been calculated under the heading 0f very
low ccwl ané not considered as valuable uniar {hc prosnnt astimntcn. It
will ba noted from the wap that the territory involved c0v¤rs 618 acres of
RV" coal. or 2,423,23L tons. The low coal available between the fault line _
and the low coal line shows u total tonnage of ¤,3G8,781 tons with 2,307,120
tons mined, leaving 6,COl,66l tons, which includes 2,200,000 tons of b¤rri¤r
pillars. leaving available for immediate nrcductinn 5,&Ol,661 tens us
` indicated on Table 5. It will also be noted on Table 3 that there is
immediately uvailabln in high coal l,424,58& tons which will increase nrc-
pcrticnately to cha decrease in barrier pillar tonnage as time goes on.
Hith the proposed operation of Nu. 1 Mine as it new exists
including the present "B" seam development and mining, there is Over 10 years
available tonnage from the present development and projections at the rats
of a million toms u Year. Some time in the future it will be advisnhlc to
take into considaratinn from a cost standpoint the ra—0pcning of N0. 2 Mine
for tha purpose of mining the remaining high coal in the "C" seam and also ·
the development and mining of the "B" scam.
Yours vary truly,
