Biography / History
John White Stevenson (1812–1886) was born in Virginia, but spent much of his professional life in Kentucky where he served in multiple offices, including U.S. Representative, the 18th Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky, the 25th Governor of Kentucky, and U.S. Senator.
Scope and Content
John W. Stevenson discusses the Supreme Court's decision in the Dred Scott v. Sandford case, 1857.
