Collection Overview
- Biography / History
- The Healing Place is an addiction treatment center established in Louisville, KY in 1989 by Dr. Will Ward and the Jefferson County Medical Society as the JCMS Outreach Program. In 1993, it adopted an addiction recovery model developed by Jay Davidson, Chris Fajardo, and Dr. Burns Brady and changed its name to The Healing Place. Originally a treatment center for men, the Healing Place opened a campus for women and children in 2009. The Healing Place offers residential rehabilitation and continuing care at no cost to its clients. The Healing Place was recognized as a "Model That Works" in 1998 by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and its model was used by the state of Kentucky for the Recovery Kentucky program. The Healing Place has had over 5,000 clients complete its program and advertises a 75% success rate.
- Scope and Content
