- Bookbinder, painter. Rudolph Gottfried Zollinger, a native of Zurich, Switzerland, came to the United States where he first settled in Wisconsin. He lived at the Shaker community at Pleasant Hill, Kentucky from 1886 to 1887 before moving to New Jersey. While at Pleasant Hill, Zollinger worked in the North or Garden family where he was joined by his son, Emil and possibly other members of his family.

- See also the Shaker papers (1M87M31) on deposit from Shakertown at Pleasant Hill. Zollinger's original manuscript is included there. This diary, written in German, contains passages describing Zollinger's life in the Shaker community at Pleasant Hill, Kentucky in 1886- 1887. The entries cover the dates September 6, 1886 to October 14, 1887. There is also a photograph of Zollinger.
