The Louisville College of Pharmacy was an independent institution dedicated to training pharmacists through classroom education and working with established pharmacists.  The Louisville College of Pharmacy was established on August 16, 1870 due in large part to the efforts of C. Lewis Diehl.  In 1947, the Louisville College of Pharmacy merged with the University of Kentucky, forming the foundation of pharmaceutical education at the University of Kentucky.  This collection consists of materials that pertain to the Louisville College of Pharmacy before it merged with the University of Kentucky.  Also included in the collection is a certificate presented by the University of Kentucky to Gordon L. Curry in 1949 for fifty years of loyalty to the University of Kentucky.  It is included in this collection because he worked for the Louisville College of Pharmacy for forty-eight of the fifty years.  The majority of the materials in this collection belonged to either C. Lewis Diehl or Gordon L. Curry.  The collection is divided into twenty-five series and seventy sub-series.
