boards of 13 journals and book series. Recipient of Faculty Achieve-
ment for Outstanding Research Award from the Burlington Resources
Foundation; Clemson Award, Society for Biomaterials; 1990 Perkin
Elmer Physical Electronics Award for Excellence in Surface Sci-
