Collection Overview

Biography / History
Margery Harding collected the images in this collection while she was researching her genealogy. Included is a rough sketch of her family line, traced through her paternal grandmother. With the exception of a crystoleum photograph of Harding's father, Henry Ward Beecher Heberling, none of the individuals listed in her included genealogy are represented in the photographs. The exact relationship of the individuals to Margery Harding is unclear. The identifications for items have been taken from the photographs themselves and from notes made by Margery Harding.
Scope and Content
The Margery Harding Photographic Collection, 1840-1880 consists of fourteen studio portraits featuring the ancestors of Margery Harding. Included are daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, tintypes, albumen prints, and four crystoleum photographs.
