l1ti0n there was a lengthy discussion as to the time at which it 4
1‘ would be most advisable to close our state books, but no decision
lll‘ was arrived at.
1jl Mrs. Desha Breckinridge was asked to address the convention. ,1
11 She told of the plans of the Federation of Woman’s clubs with I
31.1 regard to school suffrage and of the work accomplished at the 1
1l ’ last legislature. .
11‘ Mrs. Lucy A. Nield proposed that women working for school
1' suffrage go directly to the liquor men and ask their endorsement
1, Miss Clay reported that the liquor men of Wisconsin have declar~
‘ ed in favor of Woman’s suffrage.
l The report of the Treasurer was read and the books placed
1‘ in hand of the Auditing committee.
1' Mrs. Laddie of New Jersey and Miss Mary Helm were in-
l troduced. Miss Helm told -of her personal experience and conver— '
i 1 sion to the cause.
l The President Miss Laura Clay gave her annual address. She
l told of the changed conditins existing at present, the increased
11 membership which made some change in the constitution desirable.
1111 She proposed a rotation of officers as one change. That the office (11
ll of Auditor be created and the Auditor be made a member of the 3
ll Executive board. That the President, lst Vice President, corres— '
111 ponding. Secretary and Treasurer be electedon the evenyears. That
the 2ndVicePresident,3rd Vice President, Recording Secretary, Ex— 6»
l ecutive Committee member and Auditor on the odd years. That
11 this year being an odd year, the President, lst Vice President,
1 Corresponding Secretary and Treasurer be elected for one year. 1,
‘l The second and 3rd Vice PreSident, Recording Secretary and Ex-
ll, ecutive committee member for two years. She also proposed mak-
ll ing the state member of the National Executive committee a mem—
