- Dr. Lawrence S. Thompson worked at the University of Kentucky as the director of libraries and as a faculty member in the classics department. He wrote extensively on the processes of printing and publication. Dr. Thompson also researched processes for cataloging materials, frequently corresponding with European colleagues.
- Scope and Content
- The Lawrence S. Thompson papers consist of correspondence, articles, brochures, photographs, and cataloging cards. The letters typically deal with Dr. Thompson's research regarding different methods for cataloging materials. Some of the items include handwritten or typed information on the reverse side of previously used University of Kentucky vouchers. This collection contains materials written in English, German, Dutch, and French. Also included in this collection are materials from Frederick Jonker, owner of Jonker Business Machines in Maryland. Each folder's contents reflects the original categorization of the collection.
