All Dressed Up. Although this child is sitting on a "Surplus Relief Commodity" box, the clothes he has on and hundreds of other pieces of children's clothing have not proved to be a surplus, but rather a great welcomed necessity in many Kentucky homes. To date, 373,218 pieces of children's clothes have been made in the Training Work Centers, including 90,150 children's dresses, 85,899 pieces of infant's clothing, 169,409 pieces of children's underwear and 27,760 sleeping garments. One nursery school teacher reports a doubled enrollment after the receipt of gay-colored sun suits made in the local Training Work Center

You may come across language in UK Libraries Special Collections Research Center collections and online resources that you find harmful or offensive. SCRC collects materials from different cultures and time periods to preserve and make available the historical record. These materials document the time period when they were created and the view of their creator. As a result, some may demonstrate racist and offensive views that do not reflect the values of UK Libraries.

If you find description with problematic language that you think SCRC should review, please contact us at SCRC@uky.edu.
