ABBEY OF GETHSEMANI

TRAPPIST, KENTUCKY

Dec 23, 1‘96]-

Dear Victor

Many thanks for the proof. I think it will do very well in
the book. It is very simple and austere, Are the lines in the
hand holding the crown too heavy? This strikes one a bit . But
The woodcut is I think very fitting and good, and I am glad it turneo
out well, after your misgivings about it.

How many copies can you spare me? I forget how many I asked
for last time, and do not know what measure to place upon my
greed. Will six be too many? I now forget whether I have promised
that many to people already. I half promised to give one to St
Mary's College Notre Dame and then drew back and said no they had
better buy one. I don't think I am a good salesman. But we'll see.
If it worked with them I may do it to all those to whom I first
promised one, and then enter 1962 with an air of executive abandon.

I wish you again all the best of the season's graces. Good heal-
and joy to you in the New Year, and blessings especially to Carolyn.
I will let you know if I hear that J. is coming.

Very cordially as ever, in Christ

/’Lz Lam};
