Larry Greenwood reports that about 1,700 freshmen were given library V tours last week and everything went smoothly. During this week about 500 students received instructional tours. Phone calls from off campus to the library can be transferred to other on—campus offices via a simple procedure. If library staff members use this transfer capability, patrons may be spared calling 2 or 3 different departments themselves. The procedure to transfer a call is as follows: l) make sure the caller is off-campus; 2) tell the person you are transferring their call and give him the number (in case the call is disconnected); _ 3) depress the button briefly and wait for a dial tone; 4) dial the 5 digit UK number and explain that a transferred call is coming in; 6) hang up - your party will automatically be connected with the new number. . David Farrell recently chartered the Bluegrass poetry circuit, a non- profit organization to promote the writing of poetry by students at colleges and universities in central Kentucky. The circuit is sponsored by the Kentucky Arts Commission and is being organized by · David, Jim Hall of the English Department, and several other persons in central Kentucky. They are inviting each campus in the region to nominate a student poet. A panel of judges will select three among the nominees to receive cash prizes and to make a spring reading tour of the participating campuses.
