- Biography / History
- William Rogers Clay was born November 9, 1864, in Fayette County, Kentucky. He attended Lexington and Transylvania Universities. Afterwards he spent two years in the railroad business in Missouri, then served as Senator James B. Beck's secretary in Washington, D.C., where he also attended Georgetown College. Eventually, William Rogers Clay became judge of the Court of Appeals in Lexington. He married Anne Field Clay, whose parents were Sidney and Sallie Warfield Clay.

- The collection on the Clay family photographs (dated 1949, undated; 0.4 cubic feet; 9 items) consists of 1 badly damage daguerreotype of Henry Clay, 1 cased daguerreotype of a house, possibly on the Ashland Estate. In addition, there are 5 silver gelatin prints of people. Those identified are: W. Rogers Clay, Jr., Anne Field Clay and Babelle (aunt to William Rogers Clay, Jr.).
