Collection Overview

Scope and Content
Variations in the spelling of Macy should be noted: Macy, Macey, and Maysey.
The Macy notebook is entitled "The Macys of Breckinridge County [Kentucky]".
This collection is a copy of the genealogy of the Keown, Macy and Whitler families compiled in the form of family sheets and cumulated into three loose-leaf binders, divided by family. The original family sheets were compiled and are maintained by J. Marcus Whitler. Each sheet is one of an individual male and contains information of birth and death dates, place of birth, source of the information, wife's maiden name, her birth and death dates and their children's names and their birth and death dates and places of birth. In the front of the volumes are notes on how to trace your genealogy and considerations in writing your personal history. In addition, the Keown notebook includes a Keown historiography and the Macy notebook contains a copy of a 1956 newspaper clipping regarding the Macys in Virginia and Kentucky. Also present are copies of the Whitler, Macy and Keown Coats of Arms.
