ABOUT THE LIBRARIES
ELECTION OF LIBRARY OMBUDSMAN
The office of Ombudsman, previously held by Rhoda Channing, is now vacant. The
Library Ombudsman is elected by the entire library staff and serves for a period
of one year. The purpose of the office is "to provide a mechanism for handling

cedures have not yielded a satisfactory solution. It is not intended to supplant
the normal processes of problem resolution. The authority of the Ombudsman ex-
tends to issues of a Library nature involving all professional, classified and ‘
student employees of the Library." (See p. 5 of Organizational Procedures document)
` In accordance with the Organizational Procedures document "the Ombudsman shall
be nominated by solicitation from the entire library staff." The three names
receiving the highest number of nominations will then be placed on a written
ballot and voted on by the professional and classified staff. Please send
nominations (up to three) for Library Ombudsman to Jan Knight (Acq. Dept.) or
Ron Weber (Acq. Dept.), Chairperson of ACTS, by October l5th.
