Collection Overview

Biography / History
Born in Paducah, Ky, William C. Weaks was employed by an oil company in Terre Haute, In. before retiring in 1960. He compiled this detailed genealogy as a hobby.
Scope and Content
Materials consist of genealogical research conducted by William C. Weaks on his family names. The collection consists of extensive research concerning the Weaks family as well as the Acree, Brigham, Brown, Dictum, Gant, Gatlin, Harman, Kinkead, Looney and Wallace families, most of whom had family ties in Kentucky. Weaks used government and church records, grave stones, family Bibles, and assorted publications in compiling his research. Since he wrote to numerous individuals, much of the material consists of Weak's genealogical correspondences. Also included are a few photographs and newspaper articles concerning various family members.
