sent in reply to his request of Feb.26th.

I understand that you are now collating

such of the material as you find to be
*available for the use or Mr.Lucas in con-
nection with the new edition of Lamb. we
shall be ready to forward this material to
Mr. Methuen through our London Office,as
soon as it is in readiness. I prefer to
act in this matter merely as a transmit-
ting ;or forwarding agent. The question
as to the precise range of Mr.Methuen'e
request or of your acceptance of this re—
quest must, I Judge, be determined by

your correspondence with him. I have not

myself enough direct knowledge or the
nature of the material concerned, to have

in regard to it any opin:;;7of importance.
