Dear Sir I should be charmed to avail myself of your very kind hos— pitality, but fearing that it may be rather awkward owing to the peculiar circumstances of dgy visit. I beg of you to excuse me. Each evening is engaged at some town or another, and I have a colored stranger, and servant to look after, as unfortunately my English servant does not understand the colored man's wishes. As I have only one eVening at Canbridge, can you not make it a dinner only at your house, when I should be extremely happy to meet you & your friends, I should also be delighted to h€3§ Dr. Humphreys occupy the chair. By the bye as I have two lectures prepared and as Cambridge is one of the learned places in England, I should say that the Lecture "The Dark Continent and its people", or "Africa & the Africans" would be the most appropriate to deliver there, but if‘ you think that thenarrative will have more popular interest . I leave it to you to decide. A letter addressed between next Friday Hf and Tuesday the 29th to Neevstead Abbey Nottingham will find me. Yours with many thanks Henry M. Stanley. Robt. Bowes Esq.
