l acknowledge with many thanks your letter or the

25rd inst., and have forwardeu the details to my friend

in frague who wishes to translate some of Mr. Swinnertonis
works.

rhe work for which 1 am asked to obtain authorisation
for translation, is "The Chaste Wife", which is being
trenslatei at the express wish of rresident hasaryk.
l have some doubts, however, whether the sum of £1
will not he too high for the rrague publishers, a“ at
the present rate of exchange this represents the sum
of 8400 Czechoslovak crowns, which is about 1g months‘
salary of the average member of the intelligencig who
buys books.
