 July 5,1882

I shall have been here a week tomorrow.

I write now to tell you that I was none

the worse for the journey, which indeed

I enjoyed. But I am far from. well, &

it is too early to say whether I am on the road to
mend. My doctor is not here. ' found all my
children & C quite flourishing. I think

with real pleasure of the days I spent with you &
with true gratitude for your kindness to me.

My wife is no less grateful to you for this

than I am.

I will write again when I' see how things go.
