Mr. Samuel “Val-yen, D.C.L., died on Sundly

evening at his residence in London, in his 70th year.
Deceased was son of the late Rev. Dr. “’arren, and'
was born in Dcnbighshire. He was the author of
“Ten Thousand a. Year,” “ Now and Then," and other
novels. In February, 1950‘, he was returned to the
House of Commons for Midhurst, which he re resent d
till February, 1559, when he was uppeiute by Lum
Chelmsford a. Master in Lunacy. The post vacated is
worth £2,000 a. year. Mr. Warren resigned the Re-
cordership of 131111 in 1874.
