GILLY, WILLMM STEPHEN, D.D., was educated
at Christ’s Hospital, and at St. Catharine’s Hall,
Cambridge. He \V s collated to the rectory of
North Fambridge, E_.ex, 1817; obtained a canonry
of Durham, and the living of St. Margaret’s in
that city 1825; was presented in 1851 to the vicar-
age of Norharn, Northnmherland; and died 10
Sept., 1855, aged 66. His works are—4 The Spirit
of the Gospel; or the Four Evangelists elucidated
by explanatory observations, historical references,
and miscellaneous illustrations: ‘ Narrative of an
Excursion to the Mountains of Piedmont in the
year 1823, and Researches among the Vandois or
VValdenscs, Protestant inhabitants of the Cottizm
Alps;’ ‘Horze Catich tieze;’ ‘Waldensian Re-
searches;’ a ‘ Second V sit to the Vaudois,’ 1831;
Memoir of Felix Netl'; ‘Our Protestant Fore-
fathersf ‘Vigilantius and his Times ;’ “The Ro-
maunt Version of the Gospel zfcorging to St.
